Cold turkey
If you've ever wondered if there's something you could add to your list of bad, but probably non-life-threatening, ideas to try, I highly recommend quitting coffee cold turkey.
Due to medical reasons not disclosed here (and certainly not because of some sudden "aha-erlebnis" about my health habits) I had to quit drinking coffee overnight. The little monkey inside me wasn't too worried at first. After all, we have decaf options that are just as pleasing to our taste buds.
The only flaw in the logic of my caffeine-fueled brain was overlooking the fact that at five to six cups per day, my brain might actually end up... missing something.
Following three straight days of grueling, splitting headaches and a rotten mood that made my colleagues flee to their booths, I'm happy to report I've emerged stronger on the other side! I'm drinking way more water (seriously, how was I not drinking water before?), although I'm now facing a new morning struggle: visits to the bathroom have become significantly more challenging. Reflecting on that last point, perhaps itβs not such a cheerful update after all.
So, if you're looking for a way to guarantee yourself a terrible week, feeling completely miserable but still not quite sick enough to earn a day off, give this a try. Results can be expected within one business day.
