Pizza amidst the falling leaves

𓇢𓆸

An ex-colleague-turned-friend started working in the city close to where I live. I invited them over after work for gossip and pizza. They had a beautiful small bouquet of flowers with them to wish me well with my recovery. A bit flustered by the thoughtful gesture, I put them in an old-fashioned pitcher since I own exactly one vase that was already occupied.

Later, after ordering the pizza and me refusing that they pay for their own, they said something along the lines of, "You are one of the most kindhearted people I know. No, really, I am serious." after I made a face at them.
"You really need to get to know more people, your standard is ridiculously low." I dead-panned. They laughed heartily, and later on in the evening, after teasing them a bit too much, they loudly claimed to take it back and regret ever saying it.

I read many recent posts here on BearBlog about people having some form of what we call here "falling of the leaves" syndrome or just "the blues". Hang in there, your words and experiences give courage.
